Suniti Kumar Chatterji (1890-1977) was a towering Indian linguist, educationist, and litterateur, renowned for his seminal work, The Origin and Development of the Bengali Language, and contributions to Indian linguistics, literature, and culture; he served as National Professor, President of the Sahitya Akademi, and received Padma Bhushan & Padma Vibhushan.
