Being And Time (Harper Perennial Modern Thought)
Being And Time by Martin Heidegger is one of the most-influential philosophical books of the 20th century, which has helped to shape the modern thought. It is Heidegger’s most important and profound work. The book closely examines the notion of Being by exploring the concept of “being”. Heidegger dubbed this as Dasein and he delved into this concept by examining various themes such as morality, temporality, historicity and anxiety. The question “what is the meaning of being?” is the central tenet of Being And Time. Through this question, Heidegger tries to provide an explanation for the basic problems with existence. In Being And Time, Heidegger examines topics such as the necessity, priority and structure of being and everydayness and temporality. This examination of being has had a profound influence on literature, philosophy and art, not to mention postmodern thought and existentialism. Originally, Heidegger planned to write the book in two major sections, with each section having three parts. However, he only wrote two sections of the first part. In this version of the text, scholar Taylor Carman has written a foreword. The book was published by Harper Perennial Modern Classics in 2008 and is available in paperback.Key Features:This book is one of philosophy’s most important works, which influenced history’s greatest thinkers such as Sartre, Stiegler and Levinas.
